Biography / CVMartin began working as a sculptor in 1984 when he established his studio in Oxford. Since then he has made many figurative sculptures, including portraits, both of private and public sites. These have either been carved in limestone of modelled in plaster or clay for casting in bronze. He has contributed to numberous exhibitions, though the majority of his work has been to commission. In 1994 Martin was elected an Associates of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. | |
Artist StatementWorking alwasy from life, and seeking not only the individual anatomy, but the emotion the shape contains, I discover those other, less conscious marks of character wihc our public personalities, however practised, never quite conceal - those mixed expressions wihc every face grows into. | |
